Happy New Year everyone!

My most important resolution for this year is to be consistent with everything. That is from healthy eating, blogging, recording videos, posting content to workouts and sticking to a timetable. Last year was quite messy and I was bit all over the place, even though it really wasn’t my fault. We all went on a rollercoaster ride last year, and it’s still not over. But I think it’s safe to say that at least we are a teeny bit used to it now.

Anyway, my first post for this year is about my New Year Makeup Kit. I posted my capsule makeup kit for last year’s June, and a few things have changed since then. Let’s see what I’ve chosen for this year.

Living in Melbourne for a while honestly changed my skincare and makeup routine. I opted for a simpler skincare routine with more natural looking makeup looks for everyday. I don’t feel comfortable wearing a full beat of makeup these days. The first thing I removed from my makeup routine was contouring. I’ve replaced that with bronzing 🙂

So currently only one foundation matches me 1:1, and that is the Bobbi Brown Skin Longwear Weightless Foundation in the shade Warm Natural. Everything else I own (even the CT Light Wonder) look a bit off even with a fixing spray. I never thought I’d repurchase this foundation when I first reviewed it in 2019 (you can read my post here) but I fell in love with this since the colour match is the best out of everything I own, and my skin has got more normal than dry, after a couple of professional treatments. I have to warn you though, that about 90% of my kit is from Bobbi Brown, and I’m not affiliated with them at all! I just happen to love their products more as I get older!

I like to apply this foundation with the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush.

I’ve been loving the Estée Lauder Double Wear 24hr Hydra Prep Concealer (Shade 4N) for about a year now, and I use this shade as a colour corrector. Then, I use my trusty old MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter Pen in Bright Forecast as a concealer. I blend both with my fingertips.

I’ve also become a huge fan of blush over the past year. I love this cream blush “Pot Rouge” from Bobbi Brown, and i use the shade Powder Pink. A little bit goes a long way, and you can use this on your lips too. Perfect to keep in your handbag for touchups! To use as a blush, I take a small amount with my fingertip onto the back of my hand, then I use the Bobbi Brown Blush Brush to apply it on my cheeks. I use whatever’s left on the back of my hand on my lips with my fingertips as a soft hint of colour.

Then I set my face with a very light layer of powder: my all-time favourite Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder (I use the shade Medium) I apply this first under my eyes with the MAC 224 brush, then all over the face with Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush. I’ve ordered the Sheer Powder Brush from Bobbi Brown to replace the MAC 224 brush (I want to add it back to my professional kit)

I still love highlighter, so I use the Bobbi Brown x Morag Myerscough highlighter just over the blush with the Angled Face Brush from Bobbi Brown. Seriously, BB (for Bobbi Brown from now on) makes really beautiful highlighters! (Bronze Glow is also on the way)

If I really feel like it, I add a bit of bronzer. This is again from BB, and the shade is Golden Light. This is a sample i received last year, but it got lost among my stuff when I moved back to Colombo, and I finally found it inside a handbag last week! I use the BB Bronzer brush to apply this, mainly on my forehead, and lightly on the cheeks.

That completes the face base picks. In my next post I’ll share the eyes and lips picks for this year.
