My Diorific picks from State of Gold collection

Happy New Year beautiful people!

My first post this year is about my favourite high-end cosmetic (and fashion, of course) brand, Christian Dior. My first ever high-end makeup purchase was also from Dior, my beloved Dior Addict Lip Gloss in Aileé…

I have a small collection of Dior cosmetics including their 5 colour eyeshadow palettes (Earth Reflection & Royal Khaki), Travel Palette, Nail Polishes (Rouge Altesse, Porcelain, Darling, Ivoire, Gris Montagne, Beige Safari) Dior Addict Lipsticks (Icône, Pink Dentelle, Pandoré), Dior Blush (Rose Cherie) & Dior Mono Eyeshadow (Pavillon) I love all of them dearly except the blush (which does not work at all) but I decided to skip so many of their new collections as I fell more in love with drugstore and other affordable makeup brands. However, I couldn’t resist their new Holiday collection at their counter, most of them clad in their signature Christmas gold packaging.

For this holiday season, Dior’s theme is “State of Gold”, created by Peter Phillips, the Creative & Image Director of Dior Makeup.

The complete collection has:

  • 6 shades of Diorific Mat Lipsticks
  • 2 shades of Dior Addict Gloss
  • 2 palettes of 5-colour eyeshadow
  • 2 shades of Diorshow Fusion Mono
  • 2 shades of Diorshow Compact Powders
  • 2 shades of Diorblush
  • 5 shades of Diorific Vernis

All items are limited edition with the Lipsticks and Vernis coming in exclusive Diorific holiday packaging.

Since I already have most of the shades in this collection (minus the gorgeous packaging, of course) I skipped most of it and splurged on only two items.
The nail polish shade in Gris-Or really caught my eye. It reminded me of OPI’s Rollin’ in Cashmere from last year’s holiday collection, but I find that shade a bit too yellow to my taste right now. Gris-Or has a hint of grey in it, which makes it so unique from all other metallic nail polish shades.

Gris-Or: Is a must-have colour in my opinion. It’s such a fresh take on satin finish gold polish, because it has that touch of grey in it, that it looks like a hybrid of platinum and gold. (Does that make sense?) It has that trio-chrome effect of gold, rose-gold and grey, and neither grey nor gold overpowers each other.

The brush on Dior Vernis has got to be the best nail polish brush ever. It’s so easy to use, you need only one dip from the bottle and the round tip brush applies it evenly on the nail in 2 seconds. This shade is very opaque too. One coat is enough for full opacity.

The other item I picked from Dior counter was Diorific Mat Lipstick in Radieuse.

Radieuse: Is a velvet matte rose shade that is a beautiful everyday colour. It is very opaque and sits nicely on the lips while keeping it hydrated unlike other matte lipsticks in the market. It doesn’t crease, cake-on or dry out. It’s not 100% matte either, which is totally fine by me. Sometimes you need your lips to look a bit more live, right? This formula is a bit similar to Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet, and the effect is similar to NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils.

These Diorific Mats are definite must-haves this season. If you can splurge, go ahead and a buy a few of those limited edition shades. The packaging will surely please you too… They look and feel expensive 🙂

I highly recommend both items I picked from State of Gold collection. I know it’s past Christmas (the collection was launched for Christmas), and these items have been in the market for a while now. But in case you passed on it, you might wanna reconsider because they’re totally worth the price.

I’m wearing Gris-Or on my nails with OPI’s I Reached My Gold on my ring finger and Radieuse on my lips in the picture below… This is my New Year Party look today 🙂
