Airport Buys: YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick Trio Review

Hey beauties…

Today I thought of writing about my favourite high-end lipstick trio… I bought this luxurious Yves Saint Laurent triplet from BIA (I believe this is available worldwide at most of the airports) last December, along with the other high-end lipstick trio from Givenchy. (I’ve done a complete review about the Givenchy lipsticks right here.)

Unlike the Givenchy trio, these have easily made it to my favourite lipstick list for so many reasons. Keep reading if you’d like to know 🙂

The YSL trio comes in 3 bold colours:

1.YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in no 01 (Le Rouge)

2.YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in no 13 (Le Orange)

3.YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in no 27 (Fuchsia Innocent)

This pack is what I’d call “The 3 most essential lipstick shades in any woman’s life”. These are encased in luxurious gold packaging with the YSL logo engraved on the bullets. In my opinion, every red-lipstick-lover should own these beauties.

Let’s take a look at the swatches:

Le Rouge
Le Rouge
Le Rouge: Is what I’d call a true red. It’s actually a brilliant true red that flatters almost all skin tones. When I can’t decide which red lipstick to wear, I quickly pick this one because this is the truest red you can find in the red-lipstick-universe. This is a classic shade from the trio.

Le Orange
Le Orange
Le Orange: Is the orangey cousin of Le Rouge. It’s the most beautiful orange-toned red I’ve ever seen.  I was a bit reluctant to wear this at first because every time I wear lipstick that has an orange undertone, they make my teeth look super yellow. But I was pretty surprised how Le Orange made my teeth look whiter than they already are! This lipstick gives an instant makeover to the entire face and it makes you feel instantly glamorous.

Fuchsia Innocent
Fuchsia Innocent
Fuchsia Innocent: Is a beautiful bright pink with a heavy blue undertone to it, that it sometimes look a like bright lilac-y pink. This is one of the few cool tone lipsticks I can rock without fear. The colour is extremely bright but highly wearable at the same time. (No, it doesn’t make you look like Nikki Minaj 😀 )  I’ve got so many compliments every time I wear this. It’s such a fun colour that has just the right amount of girly glam and fun.

The pigmentation of these lipsticks are: Seriously opaque and even. I love applying these straight from the bullet because you only need one swipe across the whole lip.

The consistency is: Smooth and extremely moisturising. It isn’t too creamy or cake-y. These lipsticks don’t pull off any dry skin either. They give a nice satin finish and they silently scream that you are wearing an expensive lipstick!

(Wish it was matte? Simply place a thin tissue over your lips and lightly tap some loose powder with a fluffy powder brush. Voila! Matte lips!!!)

Is it worth for the price? I paid US$110.00 for this trio (probably the highest I’ve paid for 3 lipsticks… I still need to have some Tom Ford desperately in my life!) Yes. They’re worth the price, considering how little you need to achieve full opacity. Everything from the packaging, application to the colour pay off and wearability is well worth the money. These lipsticks lasted about 5-6 hours on me (particularly Le Rouge) before they started to fade out evenly. They’re so lightweight and has a subtle fragrance that disappears quite soon.

Do I recommend this trio? YES, YES AND YES! I think every girl (who is not afraid to wear reds and pinks) should own this triplet. It’s a great investment! All of these colours are available for individual purchase at all YSL counters worldwide (US$36.00 each)

I’ll see you soon with more beauty reviews!

Xx
