Hello beautiful people! Today’s post is about my May/June favourites from 2014! Even though we don’t have seasons in Sri Lanka and it’s mostly hot and humid every day throughout the year, I like to change some of the things I use daily according to the seasonal trends regardless the weather here… (except for winterwear of course 😉

Since it’s the summer in the Northern hemisphere, I had been tracking some of the summer beauty trends for the past few weeks… I’m seeing a lot of bright reds, corals and fuchsias for lips, cheeks and nails with eye makeup ranging from earthy browns to cobalt blues, (I’m drooling over the Dior 5- Couleur’ palettes in Sundeck and Atlantique) to all sorts of electric hues (did you see the new Urban Decay Electric pallete??)

But this time I thought I would keep my eye make-up to a minimal (save my beloved Sephora eyeliner in “Azur Blue” for special occasions) and play more with lip colours… So I bought this new shade from DiorAddict lipstick in “Pandore”. (I ordered online through http://www.cosme-de.com)

I LOVE the formula of all DiorAddict lipsticks… They’re a hybrid of lip balms and lipsticks, which is a perfect combo when you have no time to prime your lips with balms before applying ordinary lipsticks… Pandoré is a gorgeous bright red on the stick, but it is very sheer and balmy when applied. You can easily build up colour by layering. I’ve been using this red almost everyday to work, and I apply in two swipes to get moderate coverage.

Lately I’ve been buying a lot of bright and colourful clothes, and I’ve pared them with my newfound love for red lippies… So I decided to go neutral on my nails, and I’m loving my OPI “Glints of Glinda” (from their Wizard of Oz collection last year), which is a beautiful sheer beige. Only downside is you have to apply at least 3 coats for maximum opacity, but the result is simply charming.

The other favourite shade is Dior in “Beige Safari”, which is THE perfect nude for me… I need only 1-2 coats and I always get compliments whenever I wear this. Totally worth the price tag!
(The new limited edition summer collection of Dior has another beige-y shade call “Yacht”. I didn’t order this since I already have many beige/nude shades, but I’m totally eyeing the other LE summer shade “Saylor”, which is a stunning cobalt blue)

For face I use my usual products including Guerlain Météorites and since I’m already tanned I’m not using any bronzers this time, but I DO use more sun protection!! I love Nivea Sun Protection cream with SPF 50, which is the only cream that works for me…

During this time of the year I like to keep my body mist in my handbag the whole time. I always do keep a perfume, but for months like May, June and July, I want the fragrance to be light and refreshing because it’s super hot here… Yesterday I met my perfect match when my dear cousin gave me this gift set from The Body Shop. I’m so in love with this super light Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance mist. I keep spraying it whenever I feel like because it’s absolutely refreshing with a hint of sophistication!

This is the perfect time to buy flats and wedges because there’re more styles of these than booties and heeled shoes around summer… I’m loving my Charles and Keith black flats with gold chain detail, and for running on short errands I keep my other pair of gold flip-flops I bought from Lakshmi’s (for just LKR 750.00!!!) in the car.

This is also the time I take all my feathery earrings out of my drawers… If you’re interested, there’re lots of these types of handmade earrings at The Good Market store “Zabozi” (I bought the peacock earrings last Thursday for LKR 500.00 from there)

Next is this set from Shu Uemura… I use the cleansing oil, the refining lotion and the night cream everyday, and these will always stay on top of my favourites list… I’m not planning to write more on this because I’m going to write a lengthy description later on this blog!
