Hey beauties,
It’s been about 2 months since I started testing this lovely duo that I’m reviewing for you today. I was invited for the official launch of Shiseido in Sri Lanka back in February, and even though I knew a little about Shiseido, I never had the intention of purchasing or testing their products in the past, but I was amazed to hear that Shiseido is the oldest cosmetic company in the world, and has a spectacular range of research-empowered skincare and makeup under them. I was gifted a few items to test during the launch, and I also had the opportunity to swatch their foundation and concealer at the counter with an attractive discount due to the launch.

I got the Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation and Concealer in the shades Maple 350 and Medium 303 respectively.
Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation
The foundation comes in 30 shades, but there’s only a limited range available in Sri Lanka at the moment. I was lucky enough to get my shade matched among those few shades. The significance of this foundation is that it has a fresh, natural look that lasts throughout the day as if you just applied it, and it’s oil-free and fragrance free. The foundation works perfectly well in the hot and humid weather in Sri Lanka, and it has a medium but easily buildable coverage that is suitable for all skin types.
I like applying this with a foundation brush (I’ve heard many good things about the Shiseido Hatasubaki Hake Polishing Face Brush so I will check it out in the future) and one pump is enough for the whole face. I also like to apply this after my new Shiseido skincare routine in the morning, but it works perfectly well with my other skincare products too. (I use Shiseido Ultimune Serum, Essential Energy Moisturizing Cream, Eesential Energy Eye Definer before applying the foundation and concealer)
The shade Maple 350 leans slightly on the neutral side, and it is the perfect balance of warmth with a hint of pink.
In the picture below you can see it next to my other current medium-coverage foundation from Lancome:

The shade I chose is Medium 303 that has a golden olive undertone, so it appears ever so slightly darker than what I would want, and I believe my perfect match would be Medium 302. The shade aside, the formula is one of the best I’ve tried that doesn’t settle into the fine lines under my eyes like every concealer on earth does! It has a full coverage with a soft-matte finish that doesn’t look too dry or cake-y, and a little bit goes a long way. I usually set this with my trusty Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in Medium.
The concealer is definitely one of my favorites, and I will be repurchasing this in the correct shade in the future. For now, I mix this with a little bit of MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast to brighten my under eyes.
In the pictogram below you can see my bare skin (with eyebrow, lips and eye makeup) and with concealer and foundation:

Have you tried any of Shiseido’s makeup or skincare? Let me know in the comments below.
I’ll see you soon with another review this coming week!
Happy Sunday!
