I have a long overdue review for Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r family (first launched in 2017 and I bought my first stash in mid 2018) I’ve been using the Pro Filt’r Foundation for about 6 months and it became an instant favorite last year.
The Pro Filt’r Primer
This primer is great for oily skin, for humid, hot weather. I can’t use this one because of my dry skin, but I use this on all of my oily skin clients and they love it. It is pricey, but I can safely say it’s worth it.

The Pro Filt’r Foundation
Rihanna said she was thinking about humid weather in Barbados when she designed this product, and said it’s great for oily skin, again. This disclaimer is what paused me from buying this foundation in the first place, but I wanted to try it just for review purpose. I’m so glad I bought it because I can make it work for my dry skin; at least when I’m in Sri Lanka or anywhere warm and humid. I want to give it a try during winter when I go to Turkey in a couple of weeks.
Why I love this foundation is because it’s very lightweight and has a blurring effect on the skin. It doesn’t look like I’m wearing foundation, and this is not a full coverage product, though you can build it up easily. It stays put over my moisturizer without making me feel dry or cake-y.
The only downside to this foundation is picking the right shade. Even though it has 40 shades (now 50 with the recent launch) a lot of the shades turn dark (oxidize) after a while, so you have to do a full day wear test before purchasing your foundation. I use a mix of 290 and 310 (I don’t know if my shade is 300, which is the in between shade of those two) and that’s a perfect match for me. I’ve been applying this with a Real Techniques Sculpting Brush all this time, and recently purchased the Full Body Foundation Brush from Fenty Beauty (review below)
I can totally recommend this foundation for my Sri Lankan beauties because it works so well with our weather and on most skin types. For dry skin, mix a bit of face oil with the foundation and for oily skin you can wear it over the Pro Filt’r Foundation or with your moisturizer depending on how oily your skin is.

Pro Filt’r Concealer
One of the newest additions to the Pro Filt’r family is the much awaited concealer from Fenty Beauty. There’re the Fenty Match Stix but they’re quite dry and sort of tugs the skin when you apply them. I’m so glad Rihanna listens to her fans and created the perfect liquid concealer to match the foundation.

With this concealer, a little bit goes a very long way. You shouldn’t wear this like a YouTuber and add just a couple of dots and blend it with your finger, brush or a beautyblender. I got the shade 290, which is a little bit too light for my skin tone (because I mix 290 + 310) but when I apply the Setting Powder over, it corrected the colour perfectly well. For my dry skin I prefer to lightly dust the Pro Filt’r Setting Powder over the concealer for everyday, and for special occasions I would bake for a couple of minutes for an ultra flawless look.
Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder
Love this powder so much! I got the shade in “Cashew”, which is a good match to my foundations (“Banana” would be good to brighten) The packaging is BOMB and you get a whopping 28g of powder in this! (around LKR 200.00 per gram.

It sounds quite pricey, but you DO get a lot of product in this, and it’s cheaper than Huda Beauty Easy Bake Powder (around LKR 340.00 per gram) I like to set my whole face very lightly with this powder using the Setting Powder brush. If you have oily skin, this will instantly make your skin matte. I have to try and bake with this powder and I will update you on that soon.
The brushes
- Full bodied Foundation Brush 110: US$ 34.00 (LKR 6170.00) This will give you a super full coverage look or a very subtle look depending on how much product you take with the brush. If you want a very natural look, make sure you thin out the foundation first either on a makeup mix pan or the back of your hand. You can also use this to apply your cream contour (I love Fenty Match Stix in “Truffle”)
- Precision Concealer Brush 180: US$ 26.00 (LKR 4700.00) I like to first put the concealer on the back of my hand and take a little bit with the brush and apply in a patting motion. This brush works well with liquid concealers.
- Setting Powder Brush 170: US$ 34.00 (LKR 6170.00) This is the softest brush ever!!! It’s quite big and fluffy, and I don’t think it’s small enough to do the baking under your eyes, but you can definitely powder your whole face in a second.
Do I think you need these in your life? I don’t think so. They’re very expensive for brushes but they do feel very luxe in your hands. They’re synthetic bristles, but are made of the highest quality, so you can buy them only if you don’t mind the splurge.
