Hi all,
A few days back I received another one of my impulse buys from ColourPop, which was a collab with YouTube star Eva Gutowski. ColourPop does a LOT of collections (every week maybe) but this looked very interesting to me, despite many bloggers reviewing it to be bland and boring.
In the past few weeks I’ve been traveling a lot to many exotic, tropical places (and heck, I live in Sri Lanka, a small tropical paradise island in the Indian Ocean) but if you’ve been following me on my Instagram, you would’ve seen our Thailand trip and the recent trip to Wadduwa & Puttalam (in Sri Lanka.) Something I noticed when I was traveling to those places was that I wanted to wear really simple and easy makeup that would stand the humidity and the heat, plus all the activities I was doing. I didn’t have this collection with me when I was in those trips, but I realized I lacked a small collection of very easy pieces in my small makeup pouch (luggage space is a serious issue, so I take only a handful of stuff that’s absolutely necessary)
I actually ordered the “It’s All Wild” bundle, which has the warm-toned eyeshadow palette from the collection but ColourPop accidentally sent me the other palette “Vacation Mode” I was gonna complain to them, but the colours seemed to be nice and different so I decided against it.
Price: This bundle was US$35.00
What it has:
- Vacation Mode- An eyeshadow palette of 4 pressed powders
- She’s a Beach Babe- 3 liquid lipsticks
- Mermaid Glow- A duo of a blush and a highlighter
Packaging: If you know Eva, you’ll be able to realize it’s her collab just by looking at the packaging. Instead of the usual cardboard palettes, all palettes come in cute little plastic containers. All palettes have a small mirror inside too. The outer boxes are super cute! I wish they had the same print on the actual product too. But still it’s nice, sleek and black with a cute ditsy print on it.
Vacation Mode: Even though it’s a cool toned palette, all colours are wearable on my warm tan skin. The purple is my fav, and it’d definitely bring out any brown you have in your eyes. It’s a perfect mini palette with a good highlight shade (Shotgun: for Brow bone, inner corner) a good transition shade (Teeny Bikini) a shimmery lid shade (Mahalo) and a Smokey shade (Round Trip: also good to use as a shadow liner)
She’s a Beach Babe: This lip bundle has too Ultra Blotted liquid lipsticks and an Ultra Glossy Lip. TBH I’m not a big fan of their Ultra Glossy lips because they’re very tacky and feel a bit heavy. I’ve also got their Ultra Blotted lipsticks from the previous collab with Alexis Ren, and I love that formula. Those were bullet type lipsticks so I was looking forward to see the liquid form of Blotted Lips in this collab.
Both Blotted lips colours are so beautiful and I believe they work on medium/tan skin (Sri Lankans!) they’re not very opaque, which is the whole point of this formula, but you can build it up if you want. They don’t last as long as a matte lipstick would, but they do set into a nice soft matte finish without giving you that uncomfortable drying feel on the lips. You may need to retouch a few times, but I don’t mind that at all.
Mermaid Glow:
The blush in this is so pretty on someone with a tan. It gives a very natural, healthy look. That paired with the golden highlighter is a total winner for me. On easy beach days, I’d totally wear this duo alone without any bronzers (‘cz you are bronzed up naturally at the beach, right?)
In general, I love this collection. It’s beautiful for anyone who loves simple and easy makeup looks. They work beautifully on my medium/tan skin so I can totally recommend them to my Sri Lankan followers. If you have light skin, you can totally rock these too! Simple add your fav bronzer and do some beach waves on your hair, voila! You’ve just returned from an exotic beach vacay!
Thank you for joining me today!
See you soon,
Xx
