Honestly, I’m not someone who’d follow beauty trends from the runway (I’m sure those trends are already trickled down to the makeup companies that I support anyway!) but since August was a total no-buy month for me for new product reviews, I decided to get inspiration from the runway for my next few posts…
Fall has to be my favourite season for makeup. I love warm, rich colour palettes we always pick for Fall. Here are some of my favourite looks for this season:
The Gothic Lip:
I think a lot of Sri Lankan girls are a bit intimidated to wear this colour, but I LOVE IT! I think dark lips are sooooo in this season, and with so many makeup companies offering matte, long lasting formulas, the nightmare of leaving deep colour lip stain on the coffee cup is long gone!
(Source: vogue.com Rodarte- Fall 2016 RTW) Clean, clear glowing skin sans contouring is really a fresh scene to the eyes these days! I love the brushed brows and dark lips in Rodarte show.
(Source: vogue.com Dior- Fall 2016 RTW) I love spidery lashes paired with this super deep berry lips colour. You can get the spider lash effect when you apply 3-4 coats of MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Lash Mascara or even Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.
- Tip to rock dark, vampy lips without ending up looking scary: Take inspiration from the pictures above and go as clean faced as possible with dewy, glowy skin. I would totally skip cream contour and apply powder contour as lightly as possible for a subtle definition on the cheeks. For daytime/office appropriate look, go with minimal eye makeup as well.
The Classic Berry Lip:
Berries are always a good choice for fall! You can go as bright as strawberry or as deep as blackberry. There’re tons of berry shades out there to pick from:

Patterned eyeshadow:
There’s so much you can do with eyeshadows, you know! While this won’t be super wearable off the ramp, we can always tone it down or make it work for a special occasion. I’m thinking of the Sri Lanka Design Festival coming in this November 😉

Coloured Lashes:
Who said you can’t wear bright makeup in Fall? Take a cue from Emporio Armani’s colourful lashes as a hint of brightness for your makeup look:

Art Deco Liner:
These minimalistic eye liners have put the classic cat liner to shame!

If you’re not feeling bold enough to pull off Altuzaara’s liner, you can still try out this advanced cat liner that is still minimal yet exciting enough for the new season:

Ultimate trend for fall 2016 beauty:
I think that the ultimate trend for this fall is clean and clear skin! If you take a look at all these runway images you can hardly see any contouring save a little bit of highlighting for that fresh, glowing look.
Maintaining clear skin has become my primary goal these days, and I love going sheer with foundation ever since my fiance got me the Face & Body Foundation from MAC. I feel like I have only my dark circles to conceal, so I use the Face & Body Foundation every day on my face now (review coming soon!) with a light dusting of NARS Casino bronzer for a little bit of definition.
What is your favourite trend this fall season? (I’m also eyeing the new Colour Pop Fall edit to buy)
See you soon!
