NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow: Himalia

Last week I received a small package from NARS including 1 limited edition palette (kinda old one I found on sale) and 2 of their permanent products that have been out there for a while… One of them is this teeny tiny Dual Intensity Eyeshadow single I picked in the colour “Himalia”

According to NARS, “Himalia” is a “Shimmering Topaz”…

Price: US$ 29.00 Yeah, it’s quite steep considering it’s ONLY one colour! But it’s NARS so I wanted to check whether it was worth it 🙂

Dual Intensity range can be used wet or dry, and when you use wet it’s supposed to give you high-shine metallic effect, whereas dry application will give you a much softer and sheerer finish.

Here I tried them both ways:

The touch feels very similar to Anastasia’s Pink Champagne, but of course the colour and intensity is very different. I love this shade for an everyday look, whenever I feel too lazy to do a whole smokey eye look.

Himalia tends to have a cool undertone, which can be tricky on some people, including me. The solution is to pair it with a warm shadow as a transition. In the picture below, I’m wearing Himalia on the lid with Makeup Geek’s Creme Brûlée on the crease:

Himalia is definitely a unique shade. However, I still think US$ 29.00 is a bit too much for a single eyeshadow, even from NARS. You do get the same high quality (except for the dual intensity) from brands like Anastasia for just US$ 12.00 per pan.

It has a good wear time over a primer. I had no fall-outs and I’m quite satisfied with the performance of this shadow. I even got compliments on my eye look when I wore this so I will continue to use it on a daily basis 🙂

Hope this review helped you!

Have a blissful Sunday!
