Let’s talk about some Hydra Mattes, shall we?

These gorgeous matte lipsticks are from Gerard Cosmetics, and they always have some kind of sale on their website so don’t forget to check it out!

They have 15 shades in total (and will keep adding more) and I’ve got 7 of them here:

My favourite colour is Serenity. It’s such beautiful warm medium pink that’s great for everyday wear. Aphrodite is a little bit too bright on me, and Gravity and Ruby Slipper are statement colours for sure!

They all appear darker on lips, and the shade “Ecstasy” turns more purple on my lips.

Price: US$ 20.00 but they always have offers and bundles on their website.

Pigmentation: Is great on all 7 shades but Ruby Slipper has a patchy consistency. This is quite common on deep shades, but when you apply two coats everything evens out.

Comfort: We all love matte lips, but we all hate that uncomfortable drying feeling they give, right? Well, these are not an exception, but it’s not as uncomfortable as Ruby Woo! The comfort level varies from person to person, and you need to keep your lips scrubbed before you apply these. For me, these are okay in terms of drying, and I don’t like to wear them everyday, only because I love good ol’ satin lipsticks!

Wear-time: Is what’s most impressive about these! They last forever on me! Like the whole day with eating and drinking (kissing included, but not French, haha!) It starts to fade from the middle after a few drinks and about 2 meals. But you’ll still have at least a strong stain by night. I love wearing these during winter or whenever I go out in the night. I’m not very into wearing mattes during day time, because they settle into fine lines and I might end up looking too dry and lifeless in the harsh daylight.

My recommendation: Is to wear them for long days or night-outs where you don’t have to bother reapplying. But if you wear mattes daily, you can wear them whenever you like. These are not the most uncomfortable liquid lipsticks out there, but you have to expect a little bit of dryness no matter how much you exfoliate before. I love the colour range, and I adore the beautiful frosted and golden packaging.
