I feel like ever since Lisa Eldridge became the Creative Director of Lancôme, they’ve upped their game in products and packaging so much the brand looks much fresh and younger now. Lancôme is the first ever high-end brand I got addicted to about 10 years ago when my aunt gave me a whole bunch of juice tubes as a gift, but the rest of their makeup looked slightly too mature and somewhat boring to me as opposed to other high-end brands that also cater to slightly mature clients.

The Juicy Shaker is their latest innovation, and I was dying to get my hands on one of these when they started advertising it.

What is the Juicy Shaker? 

“A seriously addictive lip oil with a pillowy-soft cushion applicator for a delicious shot of color with a hint of shine.”

The whole product from packaging to the actual lipgloss has been inspired by cocktail shakers. The packaging is really cute and small enough to fit in to your jeans pocket. All you have to do shake it well so the bi-phase lip oils will do their work for your lips.

I love lip oils because I have dry lips (and dry skin all over) and I’m really too lazy to exfoliate my lips every morning before makeup, and I’m always on the rush to work so I try not to add up any more steps to my already long makeup routine. This is when the Juicy Shaker came to rescue.

Ok… there are bunch of other lip oils out there in the market, which are probably much cheaper than Juicy Shaker too, but this is a new product and it’s from Lancôme so I grabbed this shade “Vanilla Pop”, which is like a chestnut rose according to Lancôme.

There’re 20 juicy shades in this collection, and honestly you don’t need most of them. They vary from clear (Mint To Be) to lightly opaque, and when I made swatches, most of them looked similar to me.

I like the shade I picked because it’s one of those that has some opacity out of the 20 colors. The blue shaker called “Mint To Be” looked very interesting to me, but it turned out to be just a clear gloss so I dismissed it.

Some of the shades that looked different to each other when swatched were:

• Apri-Cute
• Berry Purple
• Spice it up
• Vanilla Pop (was similar to Good Karamel even though the bottles looked very different)
• Bohemian Raspberry

The other shades looked somewhat similar to one or more of those above and almost all the clear shades looked similar on my swatches But this could vary from skin tone to skin tone, so I cannot really guarantee this too… It’s better to swatch on yourself and see for best results.

These Juicy Shakers are bi-phase lip-oils, and the first phase is a transparent oil that gives a non-sticky shine, which I totally agree with. This is one of the least sticky lip glosses I own. It gives instant hydration to my lips during any time of the day.

The second phase gives a shot of color. So when you shake these well, they combine and give you a hint of glossy color to your lips.

Overall thoughts: I love this cute little lip gloss. It saves my lips from dryness every morning, and it’s always in my hand bag for a quick touch up. Please don’t expect them to last as long as your liquid lipsticks do! These last only about 2 hours, but reapplication is easy, and I love the results of healthy looking plump lips in 2 seconds. It’s a pricey product and you definitely don’t need all or even most of the shades. Just go to a Lancôme counter and make some swatches, see what works for you and you can buy may be 1 or 2 shades… I would definitely repurchase because they work great on my lips.

But having said all of these things, I do believe it’s a little hyped up. I just wish there was more opacity and a noticeable difference between the colors once applied.

Anyway, they’re worth checking out if you love lip glosses, or if you have dry lips in general. Hope this review helps you…
