For this year’s spring/summer, Tarte Cosmetics came up with a new collection “Rainforest of the Sea” which boasts to contain complex ingrediants from the sea to brighten and hydrate your skin. The name itself is super appealing to us makeup lovers, and the packaging has got to be the best we’ve seen so far this year…
Known as an eyeshadow collector, I decided to splurge first on their new limited edition eyeshadow palette that came in this same collection. Tarte doesn’t deliver to Sri Lanka or Turkey unfortunately, but I was lucky enough to order this through this Instagram page: @charis.lk and they delivered this to me within 2 weeks! I really recommend to check out their page if you want to order something in Sri Lanka, as their prices are fair and their delivery is fast!
I’m so obsessed with this packaging:
It comes with a large mirror inside, and 8 gorgeous everyday neutral eyeshadows:
6 out of the 8 shades are shimmers, and the other two have kind of semi-matte and somewhat velvet finish. Sand and Cove, the two semi matte shades are great as your base, crease, transfer shade or brow bone highlight…
Formulated with “Rainforest of the Sea” complex, these shadows are super smooth, buttery and highly pigmented. They glide on like a dream, and blend seamlessly.
Pigmentation is excellent, and the wear time over a primer was more than 10 hours before fading off. I recommend you to wear these with a primer as they’re too buttery and therefore have a tendency to crease overtime.
The shade selection is lovely, and leans more towards warm undertones, which is great for us tan girls. I believe these shades are very universal and everyday colours, be it soft and subtle or full on glam…
On to the swatches:
My favourite shades are Seashell (a lovely warm baby pink) Mermaid (pale gold) Wave (a warm lilac mauve that is similar to MakeupGeek “Prom Night”) Reef (reddish copper) and Cove (velvety nude)
This palette is great if you love neutrals and shimmers. This is such a “me” palette, and I’m so glad I purchased this even though I have too many eyeshadow palettes that sometimes I even forget some even exist. I reach for this every day since I received it, and recommend you purchase it if you love neutrals just as much as I do…
Price: US$ 34.00 Limited Edition
I’ve also seen good reviews on the rest of the collection so don’t forget to check it out during your next trip to Sephora 🙂
