So I said au-revoir to setting powders…

Today I thought of discussing about skipping setting powders…

If you’ve been following my blog or my instagram (@nmstylefolder) you know that I’ve always skipped liquid foundation and went straight for powders instead. This has been my routine for the past 2-3 years, but lately I noticed my skin has got so dry, and even after using all possible techniques found on YouTube, I still looked cake-y after a few hours from makeup application.

I love experimenting on my face, that’s like a part of me being a makeup junkie ๐Ÿ™‚ So I decided to skip powders for a while… You know, just to see whether you really need to set your foundation like everybody’s saying.

I think these makeup techniques don’t work on everyone as we all have different skin types, tones and textures. I’m not saying this is the way to go if you have dry skin. But so far, I’ve been loving the results of not setting with powders…

Few key products I use: I still use my favourite MAC Timecheck Lotion before anything else, and I’m using a liquid foundation now, which is Maybelline Super Stay Foundation (my shade is #40) It’s suitable for all skin types. I don’t do much contouring, but to look dewy and fresh, I do a bit of strobing (aka highlighting) with this awesome drugstore highlighter: Wet ‘N Wild Rose Champagne Glow. This is hands down one of the best natural-looking highlighters I own (ever better than Anastasia Illuminators)

For a healthy glow, I also use: BH Cosmetics Bombshell Bronze in Starlet, which is a great dupe for Too Faced’s Sun Bunny. This is a shimmery bronzer and works perfect on my dry skin.

After skipping powder for about 2 weeks, I’ve come to a conclusion that you don’t always have to set your liquid makeup with powders. It totally depends on your skin type… I’m not having any problems with no setting powders on my face, and TBH, it’s a relief to know I don’t have a risk of getting flashbacks in pictures anymore!

What are your thoughts on skipping powders? Would you dare to skip it? Let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m gonna work on my BH Cosmetics Pride+Prejudice+Zombies collection review now. If you followed my snapchat last night (nmstylefolder) you’ve already seen live swatches of the eye+cheek palette ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ll see you soon!

Xx

  1. […] Liquid foundation was not included in my everyday makeup routine about 3 months ago, but ever since my skin turned dry from oily, I started switching to liquid from powders and I’m loving the new routine. (On some days I totally ditch powders, and you can read thatย post over here) […]

  2. A lot of the times i don’t use setting powders, it just makes me look like a cake face! If I do, I always use a damp beauty blender, it really sets in with the makeup rather than sitting on top.
