Today I’m sharing my go-to winter makeup look with you all. It’s really easy and affordable 🙂
The key items for this look are:
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Series Powder Contour Kit
- MAC matte powder blush in Harmony
- Girlactik Beauty Face Glow in Natural
- Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Barcelona Beach (on the crease using MAC 217 brush)
- Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Baby Face (on brow bone with Morphe M505 blending slightly with the crease for a smooth finish)
- BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic eyeshadow palette: Moon (applied all over the eye lid with Vera Mona Shader brush)
- L’oread Super Intenza Gel Liner in Black
- BareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara
- Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita
Optional:
- Chanel waterproof eyeliner in Or Blanc (LE Holiday 2014) on the inner corners of the eye
- Makeup Geek eyeshadows in Cocoa Bear & Latte (Mixed and applied on the lower lash line using MAC 219 brush)
This is the look I love to create in winter:
If you want to know all the details on how to apply from the very beginning, then keep reading 🙂
Step 1: Moisturising- Is the key to good skin, specially in winter. Use you favourite face moisturiser to avoid skin flaking. Mine is MAC Mineralise TimeCheck Lotion. Next, apply primer all over your face so you make stay well the whole day (and night if you want to go out) Mine is Smashbox Photofinish Primer
Step 2: Even skin- You’ve seen my concealer routine no 1 here, and you know I don’t use liquid foundation. But if you use liquid foundation daily, apply it all over face with a beauty sponge or a stippling brush (recommend Morphe M427) After foundation (avoid applying foundation on the under eye area to prevent creasing) apply concealer and set it immediately with powder using a damp beauty sponge (I use BH Cosmetics Pro Beauty Sponge, which is a great dupe for the Original Beauty Blender) This is my concealer routine no 2, which I started doing after watching NikkieTutorials on how to prevent concealer from creasing. All credits go to Nikkie 🙂 and my lovely friend Sonali for sharing the video with me. If you have under eye creasing, do check out this video. It actually works!
Step 3: Contour- I told you I don’t like to bronze my skin in winter on one of my snapchats (follow me on nmstylefolder) so I straightaway go for contouring. (I’m going back to Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Series Contour Kit for light/medium because it stays the whole day) I use a mix of Fawn & Havana on the hairline, under cheekbones and jawline with a little bit on the sides of my nose. (I will do my contour map in the near future, but we’ve all seen contour maps a gazillion times now, right?)
Step 4: Highlight & Blush- Highlight the high points of your cheeks, the tip of your nose and the cupid’s bow using your favourite highlighter. (I love Girlactik Beauty Face Glow in Natural during cold/gloomy days because it gives a lovely radiance to my face) Next, use a medium-rosy toned blush on the apples of your cheeks. (I love MAC’s matte powder blush in Harmony)
Step 5: Eyeshadow- Prime your lids (I used MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre for my NC35 skin) Apply “Barcelona Beach” on the crease with a crease blending brush (MAC 217) and apply “Moon”all over the lid with your finger or use a shader brush (I like Vera Mona shader). This colour is so beautiful, I can’t even! haha! The go back with your crease brush (without any more product) and blend the crease lid for a seamless finish. Take “Baby Face” with a soft dome brush (I used Morphe M505, which is originally a crease brush, but it’s great for blending anything, so why not!) and apply on the brow bone, blending slightly with “Barcelona Beach”.
Step 6: Liner, Mascara- I love L’Oreal Super Intenza Gel Liner! It’s one of the best I’ve come across and many YouTubers agree with me 🙂 Apply a line (thickness is a personal matter. I like it thin) and use a few coat of your favourite mascara on your lashes. (Love Lash Domination from BareMinerals)
Step 7: Lower Lash line- This step is optional. Sometimes I do my lower lash line, sometimes I leave it bare for a 50s kinda look. For today I chose to do a soft brown liner, so I used “Cocoa Bear” and “Latte” on the lash line, and Chanel’s Or Blanc liner in the inner corners for a brighter eye look.
Step 8: Lips- I love Kat Von D liquid lipsticks! They’re are the best thing ever! They’re kiss proof (not French, though! haha) more like peck-proof and last the whole day with all that eating and drinking (and kissing in between) I love Lolita, which is a cult favourite and it looks different on me in different lightening. In this picture it looks more dusty rose and on a previous pic it looked rosy-brown. Have you had the same experience? Anyway, it’s my go-to lip colour these days!
I hope you liked my go-to winter look. Let me know what you think!
See you soon!
Xx
