theBalm has always been a brand that has the most cutest packaging ever, and my first ever theBalm product is this really cute travel inspired palette “theBalm Voyage 2”
Packaging: Is absolutely gorgeous! I love the little retro postcard print on the sleeve and the container top. It’s a very slim cardboard box that shuts with a magnet, but the most interesting (and the functional) part is the separated closure on the 2 lip/cheek products, which are cream based so that the powders won’t get mixed up with them. How clever is that?
On the back of the palette you can see the colours included inside.
- 9 eyeshadows with a good mix of shimmer, sparkly and mattes,
- 1 highlighter
- 1 bronzer
- 2 blushes
- 2 lip/cheek creams
- A mirror
There are no brushes included in this palette, which is a 50/50 thing. I mean, it’s a travel palette, so it would’ve been nicer to have at least a face brush included (but then you get the space/size issue there), and on the other hand, I hardly use the brushes that come with travel palettes because they’re usually crap! So anyway, you’ll have to carry some brushes with this palette, though I used my fingers to apply the eyeshadow and the lip/cheek creams with no issues! So may be just a face brush 😉
All colours are named after the word “welcome” in different languages, which I think is pretty cool… I’m telling you, this palette is oozing with cuteness!
Here’s a complete swatch pic:
Let’s look at the eyeshadows:
Failte: Blackened brown shade with gold sparkles
Welkom: Blackened teal with multicolour micro glitter. A little similar to Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar’s Blueberry Swirl, with better pigmentation.
Välkommen: Deep chocolate brown shade with gold glitter
Bienvenido: Khaki Brown shimmer shade
Willkommen: Milk chocolate brown with a satin finish
Tervetuloa: Rosey-nude with a matte finish. Perfect everyday crease shade.
Benvenuto: Blushing pink with a satin finish.
Bienvenue: Rose gold with a duo-chrome effect. My favourite shade of the palette!
Welcome: Matte finish off-white that can be used to set the primer and highlight brow bone.
All eyeshadows have good pigmentation. They’re smooth and blend well. But I suggest you wear a primer for better saturation.
Kuwakaribisha: Is a luminizer, but it’s nothing like their infamous Mary-Lou-Manizer. This is a champagne gold highlighter that has a creamy consistency. Well pigmented, so use a small fan brush to apply this colour
Croeso: Is a bronzer that is slightly similar to NARS’ Casino, but with less pigmentation. This works best on light to medium skin tones.
Huan-Ying: Is a coral pink blush with good colour pay off. Lovely for spring and summer time for a girly flush.
Dobrodosli: Is a medium pink blush with satin finish that is highly pigmented so be extra careful when you apply! Great for all skin colours and summer time
The lip/cheek colours were amazingly opaque too. They were so creamy and hydrating, and stayed well for a long time. The best thing about them were that they didn’t settle into fine lines or cracked. So in love with lip/cheek creams, though I’m not a fan of applying cream products on the cheeks. I would continue to apply these only on the lips 🙂 (Bem-Vindo: Is a bright raspberry red, and Vitajte: is a peachy coral.)
I got my palette from: beautybridge.com This is also available at theBalm website too.
Price: US$ 39.50
Do I recommend this palette? Yes! This is a great travel palette because you have everything you’ll need in one place for a colourful makeup look (except the brushes, but then you’ll need other products like foundations, concealers, setting powders too) It’s so cute to keep in your handbag, and as it’s a sleek compact, you won’t need large bags to carry this one around.
Next up will be the pending reviews from my BH Cosmetics Haul in July...
See ya!
