BH cosmetics Galaxy Chic Palette Review & Swatches

I swear I’m not sponsored by BH Cosmetics to do a lot of reviews on their products; I just love sharing information about affordable makeup that has good quality and beautiful packaging!

Last month I placed 3 large orders on BH cosmetics during their different types of sales, which they have throughout the year. So far I’ve received two, so once I receive my last package I will do a haul roundup here 🙂

Galaxy Chic is one palette that I had been itching to buy ever since I saw it at my blogger BFF Nisha’s place. I was so attracted to the cute purple packaging and the GORGEOUS baked shadows inside the instance I saw it. I really don’t understand why anyone would not get attracted to this palette, whether they’re makeup lovers or not! What’s even cuter about this palette is that it’s all about our galaxy! They have shadows named after planets, comets and all-things astronomical!

I’m so addicted to buying eyeshadow palettes, so I was wondering if I wanted to buy another shimmery shadow palette (because these days I’m more into mattes) but when BH put this on sale and my friends tagged me on IG, I HAD to buy it! I mean, a 50% off is reasonable enough to buy, right?

This palette was priced at: US$ 10.00 (yes, 10!) at the time of the sale. It usually sells at US$ 20.00 or less on non-sale days.

It comes with: 18 different baked eyeshadows.

The packaging is: A cute purple-y hardboard box with a magnet-closure and a large sized mirror inside. Even though the palette is large, it’s thin enough to carry around when you travel overseas.

Shipping & Delivery: bhcosmetics deliver worldwide and their shipping charges vary with the country and the types & quantity of the products you purchase. Delivery times differ from 1.5 weeks to 5 weeks (International Standard USPS First Class Shipping)

Ok let’s talk about the gorgeous colours…

At a glance, you can see this covers almost all colours you’ll need in your life in terms of shimmery eyeshadow. (The only problem I had here was that the shade “Earth” came broken 😦 )

On the right side picture above I arranged it in a gradient way so you can see all similarities and differences.

I’m not going to explain how each and every colour looks and works, because what you see on the pic is pretty much what you get on the eyes. However, I found that Meteor, Comet and Electra swatches very similar as you can see on the back of my hand. I wish there was a noticeable difference between these 3 colours. Earth swatches slightly darker to those 3.

My favourite every day colours are: Sun & Mercury worn alone. They are so daytime and office appropriate. I use Saturn to highlight my tear duct and sometimes a little bit of Pluto to deepen up the outer corner of my eyes to give more definition.

All of these colours are: Highly pigmented, and can be used wet or dry. When you apply wet, these colours look very metallic and smooth.

Application can be done using: A flat synthetic brush or simply your finger tips.

These colours are buttery smooth and blend so well, that it’s a dream to apply these. You can see some trials I did today with some colours below:

  1. Saturn (tear duct), Sun (eye lid), Aphrodite & Jupier mixed (outer corner)
  2. Saturn (tear duct), Cosmic (eyelid), Earth & Neptune mixed (outer corner)
  3. Saturn (tear duct), Prometheus (eyelid), Aphrodite & Mars mixed (outer corner)
  4. Saturn (tear duct), Mercury (eyelid), Moon & Pluto mixed (outer corner)

Rest of my face: MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, LA Girl Concealers in Beautiful Bronze & Creamy Beige, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Dark Brown, ELF blush in Tickled Pink, Gerard Cosmetics Highlighter in Marilyn, ELF moisturising lipstick in Ravishing Roses, BH Cosmetics lipliner in Retro, Bare Minerals mascara in Lash Domination

Do I recommend this palette? Yes. If you love shimmery eyeshadows, this is one palette you should purchase. I’m not too sure about the bright colours like Venus, Jupiter & Electra, but I think I will use them as pops of colour just for fun. Most of the colours can be worn alone for a toned down look paired with a nude lipstick and some mascara.

Note: Galaxy Chic is a cruelty-free palette 🙂

Which colours do you like most on Galaxy Chic palette?

See you soon,

Xx
