Hi Beauties,
Today I’m reviewing on some NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream shades that I bought this year, and this was a much requested post, so I decided to do this one last spring makeup review before I head over to do a round-up of this year’s Spring Favourites.
You know matte lips are still in, and as always I’m late to get on board that train… These Soft Matte Lip Creams retail at US$ 6.00 and I got mine from www.allcosmeticswholesale.com (if you’re one of my followers you know this is my top favourite site to order cosmetics, and I’m not being sponsored to write about them)
The colours I bought are:
1. London: Is one of my favourite out of all 4 shades I own. It’s a gorgeous rosy-nude colour that is pretty similar to my skin tone (I’m in between NW25 &NW35) so this is my MLBB shade. It doesn’t make me look ashy or dead like some nudes do. If you have pale to medium/tan skin, this colour would look lovely on you.
2. Buenos Aires: Is a pale, neon-ish peach shade that Barbie would wear. It’s very pale so this is not a colour many of us tanned ladies can easily pull off without looking sort of washed out. But it’s a beautiful colour that’s definitely worth checking, again if you have pale to medium skin. It doesn’t look so harsh once it dries on the lips
3. Istanbul: Is my absolute favourite shade from this little collection, not because of the name (if you’re a close friend of mine, or a follower of my private IG you’ll know ;P ) but because it’s a beautiful bright medium pink that perfectly compliments my skin tone. I think this pink would look lovely on a variety of skin tones. (After application it looks a bit like NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine, but on the brighter side)
4. Sydney: Is another Barbie shade, this time a true bubblegum pinkish lilac. Us tanned girls will have a bit of hard time working around this again because it’s a very pale pink with a hint of lilac. (Kinda looks like the super matte version of MAC’s Real Doll lipstick in lustre finish) This is a really nice shade for all of you pale beauties out there!
These colours are absolutely gorgeous, and I only have 4 shades from their entire collection. They have many other colours ranging from nudes to pinks, reds, corals, vampy purples and berry shades so do check out www.nyxcosmetics.com for the full collection. (I will buy some corals and reds this summer 😉 )
Consistency: Is creamy and sets very soon. As most of the matte lipsticks do, these tend to feel a little dry after a while, but it’s not an uncomfortable feeling. I LOVE how these smell! It’s like vanilla butter cake mixed with Marie biscuits!!! I have a hard time not smelling these! After I applied with the built-in applicator, I smoothed it out on my lips with my finger to even out, especially Buenos Aires and Sydney because they applied a little patchy.
Wear-time: was very impressive. These lipsticks lasted the whole day with drinking and eating in between. These will not leave stains on your coffee cup so that’s a biggie for me too! (I hate to leave lip stains on my cups- it’s kinda embarrassing.)
Pigmentation: Was better in Istanbul & London, but the other two shades got good opacity in 2 coats.
Overall rating: 9/10 Took 1 point off for the patchiness of some colours and the drying feeling. But it’s a really good dupe for those expensive matte lip creams/liquid lipsticks out there. If you’re on a budget (or not!) check these out because they’re so worth for US$ 6.00
If you own any of the Soft Matte Lip Creams, let me know in the comments!
See you soon!!
